The first generation of the Camaro ended with the 1969 Camaro. The COPO
The COPO was an aluminum LZ-1 engine that GM made in 1968. Fred Gibb was the drivng force behind it. COPO stands for Central Office Production Offer, 50 of them were first produced| The agreement was that Fred Gibb had to produce 50 of these "Central Office Production Offer" engine or COPO for short|There were only 50 of these COPO engines produced (Central Office Production Offer)}There was only 19 cars sold with the engine installed. It was a large 427 CI Engine in a small light body
The improved Camaro
In 1969, the largest engine GM would offer was the 6.6L. The 1969 Camaro for sale was a much safer car. There was a loop hole. Somtimes dealers would install the 7 liter in a 1969 camaro for sale Every time a dealer sold a camaro with the larger engine, GM would add a COPO with the numbers 9560 and 9561 Out of the 1015 of these cars made, there were only 69 of the 9560 COPO wich included the 7 L ZL-1 engine
Differences in the years
There was not too many changes in a 1969 camaro for sale. It had a different grill, and the lights were farther back.The rear valence was modified, giving the car a more attractive posture. The last time a 1969 camaro for sale was produced was in Dec. of 1969. The last of the first generation.
